Highlander star Christopher Lambert hospitalised after accident at hotel


Highlander and Tarzan star Christopher Lambert is being treated for a back injury suffered during a hotel fall earlier this year.

Lambert, 67, fell down a set of stairs at a hotel in which he was staying and is still trying to recover from his injuries.

The news of his fall has come out after Lambert’s scheduled appearance at the Swedish festival SciFiWorld this weekend was cancelled.

A representative for Lambert confirmed he wouldn’t be attending the event.

“As an actor, filming and promoting his films are an absolute priority and has always been, and while he has the highest respect for people organising events and fans who attend; unfortunately this time he will not be able to attend the comic con,” the statement read.

Lambert’s next project, Tulipomania, is scheduled to begin filming next week. It isn’t known if he will be ready when the project begins.

The Highlander star has also been promoting his new Amazon docudrama Eyes Everywhere, which explores the psychological toll of constant monitoring.

Lambert is reportedly undergoing physical therapy for his back injury. It isn’t known how long this will be needed.

Lambert is a French-American actor who began his career in French films.

He found fame in Tarzan in 1984 and then fantasy-adventure movie series Highlander in 1986, in which he played Connor MacLeod.

Lambert has also stared in Ghost Rider: Sprit of Vengeance in 2011.

He was previously married to American actress Diane Lane from 1988 until 1994. The pair share a daughter born in 1993.

He was married to American actress Jaimyse Haft from 1999 until 2000.

From 2007 Lambert dated French actress Sophie Marceau.

Lambert cannot see without his glasses due to a condition called myopia.

Myopia is more commonly known as a serious form of nearsightedness. Distant objects appear blurry due to the eye’s shape, which causes light to focus in front of the retina instead of on it.

Lambert reportedly cannot wear contact lenses.

His vision issues are said to have proved challenging on set during his work and particularly when he performs his own stunts for more active roles.
