Trump Revamps Immigration App with “Self-Deportation” Feature to Encourage Voluntary Exit

Donald Trump has revamped the CBP One app to include a “self-deportation” function, encouraging those in the country illegally to leave voluntarily.

The Trump administration is rolling out the CBP Home app, which replaces the controversial CBP One app. This new app aims to facilitate the self-deportation of immigrants by allowing them to submit their intent to depart the U.S.

The CBP One app, which was expanded under the Biden administration to allow migrants to schedule appointments for parole at U.S. ports of entry, will no longer serve that purpose. Under the Trump administration, this function has been eliminated. The new CBP Home app provides a way for immigrants to “Submit Intent to Depart” and verify their exit, especially for those paroled into the U.S.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem commented, “The Biden Administration exploited the CBP One App to allow more than 1 million aliens to illegally enter the United States. With the launching of the CBP Home App, we are restoring integrity to our immigration system.”

With the app giving individuals the option to leave on their own, this could enable them to re-enter the country legally in the future, though it’s unclear if there is a waiting period. Noem warned, “If they don’t, we will find them, we will deport them, and they will never return.”

The Trump administration has moved quickly to halt the expansion of migration programs, including pausing parole applications and cutting Temporary Protected Status extensions.
