Gina Kirschenheiter, star of The Real Housewives of Orange County, recently shared a deeply personal update on her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter. In a heart-wrenching Instagram post, Gina revealed that Matt, 40, suffered a sudden heart attack over the weekend, causing a major scare for their family.
“Wow. We had a scary weekend! Matt (the kiddos dad) suffered a heart attack Saturday! He’s only 40 years old!!” Gina wrote on March 18, recounting the terrifying ordeal. “Thank god Britt rushed him to the hospital and all the hospital staff acted quickly,” she continued, expressing gratitude for Matt’s wife, Britt, who played a crucial role in getting him to medical help in time.
The heart attack was a terrifying wake-up call for Gina, who noted that the entire family, including their three children—Sienna, 11, Nicholas, 12, and Luca, 9—were shaken by the event. However, Matt’s survival was a relief, as Gina shared that he “came home today” and was expected to make a full recovery.
In her post, Gina reflected on the impact of the close call, emphasizing the importance of family and health. “The kids were very shaken up but thankfully we can be smiling because he will be okay! He came home today,” she said. “The kids and Trav and I are so happy to have their dad back. This was too close of a call. Really puts things in perspective.”
The scare has led Gina and her family to reassess their lifestyles. “We will all be changing our lifestyle and leaning into the healthy bc being there for our kids is the only thing that matters,” she wrote. It’s clear that this experience has shifted her focus on prioritizing wellness for the sake of their family’s future.
Gina also took a moment to send a powerful message about co-parenting, reminding her followers that despite the challenges of divorce, the well-being of their children is the ultimate priority. “For anyone out there struggling to co-parent, remember you are all a family and what matters most is that you all get to be there for your kids.
