Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is once again stirring the pot in the hip-hop world, this time with comments about Kendrick Lamar.
In a recent social media post, Ye made it clear that while he acknowledges Kendrick’s rap skills, he’s not a fan of his music. His post specifically referenced Playboi Carti’s upcoming album, implying that he wasn’t thrilled about the possibility of hearing Kendrick on the project.
The post immediately sparked debate among fans, but things escalated when social media users began pulling up old tweets from Ye himself. In 2015, he had nothing but praise for Kendrick, calling him an “inspiration” and thanking him for his “message and execution.” Another tweet from the same day showed Ye listening to Kendrick’s album “To Pimp a Butterfly” while in the studio, expressing gratitude for the music.
This apparent contradiction had fans questioning Ye’s sudden change of heart.
As of now, neither Kendrick nor Carti has responded to Ye’s comments, but hip-hop fans are definitely paying attention. Whether this is just another case of Ye being Ye or a sign of deeper industry tensions, one thing is for sure—the internet never forgets.
